Peer-Review Process
PEER REVIEW PROCESS
EJI | The Education Journal of Indonesia
1. Peer Review Policy
EJI | The Education Journal of Indonesia applies a rigorous peer-review process to evaluate the quality, originality, relevance, methodological soundness, and scholarly contribution of submitted manuscripts. The process is intended to ensure that published articles meet appropriate academic standards and contribute meaningfully to research and practice in education.
All manuscripts considered for publication are subject to editorial screening and, where they meet the journal's initial requirements, external peer review. Editorial decisions are based on scholarly merit, reviewers' assessments, the journal's scope, and compliance with publication ethics.
2. Type of Peer Review
EJI | The Education Journal of Indonesia uses a double-anonymous peer-review process, in which the identities of authors and reviewers are concealed from each other during the review process.
Authors must submit a manuscript file that does not disclose their identities or institutional affiliations within the main document. Author names, affiliations, and corresponding-author details should be provided separately in the designated submission fields or title-page file, as instructed by the journal.
Reviewers are expected to maintain confidentiality and must not attempt to identify authors or disclose their own identities through review comments. Although the journal takes reasonable steps to preserve anonymity, complete anonymity cannot be guaranteed.
3. Peer Review Stages
Stage 1. Manuscript Submission
Authors submit their manuscripts through the journal's designated submission system and provide all required information and supporting documents.
Submissions must comply with the journal's author guidelines, formatting requirements, ethical standards, and relevant policies. Authors are responsible for ensuring that their manuscripts are original, properly cited, and not simultaneously submitted to another journal.
Stage 2. Initial Editorial Screening
The editorial team conducts an initial assessment to determine whether the manuscript:
-
Falls within the scope of EJI | The Education Journal of Indonesia.
-
Meets the journal's basic submission and formatting requirements.
-
Demonstrates sufficient academic relevance and potential scholarly contribution.
-
Provides a coherent research question, argument, or educational inquiry.
-
Includes appropriate methodological information and supporting evidence, where applicable.
-
Complies with the journal's publication ethics, plagiarism-checking, and research ethics requirements.
Manuscripts that do not meet the journal's basic requirements may be returned to the authors for technical correction or rejected without external review.
Stage 3. Similarity and Publication Ethics Screening
Submitted manuscripts may be screened using plagiarism detection software or other appropriate text-comparison tools. Editors assess the resulting reports contextually rather than relying exclusively on the similarity percentage.
